Youth Preparedness Council Workshop

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management will host its third annual workshop for the Arkansas Youth Preparedness Council on August 9, 2018.

Representatives from federal, state and local organizations will be on hand to make presentations about their preparedness contributions to the council.  In addition to ADEM, organizations represented will include FEMA Region VI, National Weather Service, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Task Force 1 Search and Rescue, Metropolitan Emergency Management Services and several local law enforcement and first responder groups.   Presentations will include information on K9, SWAT, Urban and Wilderness Search and Rescue and on-site disaster operations.

In 2016 Arkansas made history by launching the first state-level Youth Preparedness Council in the nation.  In 2018 Arkansas again made history by launching the first county-level Youth Preparedness Councils in the nation.  As of August 1, 2018 eleven Arkansas counties have organized youth councils.  The Youth Preparedness Councils are located in Clay, Greene, Jefferson, Lincoln, Polk, Randolph, Saline, Sebastian, Pope, Washington and White counties. The 2018-2019 state council is composed of representatives from each established county council.
