Video Voyeurism Arrest

Robert Powell

A long time camp director has been arrested and charged with video voyeurism.

Last Friday, White County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to Camp Wyldewood, a year-round Christian camp and retreat center on more than 300 acres just north of Searcy, to investigate a suspicious device found inside a cabin on the property. Upon further inspection, the device was determined to be a camera set to record video.

During the investigation contact was made with the suspect, Camp Wyldewood Director 45-year old Robert Powell, who confessed to concealing the camera in the tenant’s home with the intent to target an adult female.

The victim disclosed she had no knowledge of the camera.

Detectives then searched the entire camp and found no other recording devices.

Powell was arrested and charged with one count of video voyeurism. Bond was set at $2500 and he was given a Circuit Court date of June 5th.

Powell has been fired and an interim director has been hired.
