Video Cameras In Classrooms Bill

Arkansas Legislature

An Independence County parent says a bill introduced in the Arkansas General Assembly will help other children like his son.

House Bill 1019 would require video cameras in certain classrooms upon request.

That bill would protect students and teachers in self-contained classrooms where children are non-verbal.

William Harrington told KARK that his special needs son, Hayden, was assaulted two years ago at Sulphur Rock Elementary School. The cameras in the classroom helped to let people know about the abuse.

The 2019 legislative session starts Monday in Little Rock.
