Three More Area Fred’s Closing

Discount chain Fred’s is closing 49 more stores, the Memphis-based company announced Friday.
Area stores in this round of closures include Bald Knob, Beebe and Heber Springs. Stores have already been closed in Augusta, Cabot, Conway, Greenbrier, Mayflower, Melbourne, Newport and Searcy.

- Cherokee Village: 200 Hospital Drive
- Clarksville: 409 W Main St.
- Crossett: 1164 Highway 133 N
- Hamburg: 700 N Main St.
- Heber Springs: 308 S 7th St.
- Morrilton: 601 N St. Joseph
- Sheridan: 624 S Rock St.
It’s the third round of closings since April and comes five weeks after “going out of business” liquidation sales began at 105 Fred’s stores and follows the decision to shutter 159 locations.
After the combined 313 closures, representing 56% of the company, there will be 244 remaining locations. MORE
