Student Arrested After Gun Found In Truck

Southside School Distict

A Southside student faces charges after a gun was found in his truck on campus.

Last Thursday afternoon, a Southside school employee received information that a student had a shotgun in his truck on the school campus. No threat was made against the school or students.

A courageous individual wanted to ensure that adults knew there was a gun in a vehicle on school grounds and told the school employee, who immediately alerted school resource officers and administrators.

The shotgun was secured with no incident and the student and shotgun were swiftly removed from the campus by local law enforcement officers.

The student remains in the custody of local law enforcement.

The district released a statement on its Facebook page Monday.
