Statewide Fire Danger Increases

As the dry weather across the state continues nine counties have now issued high wildfire danger warnings and more Arkansas counties have posted moderate wildfire danger warnings.

Staff Meteorologist Alan Archer says there’s no rain in the forecast for the next week so burn bans may be issued to more counties. So far, only Van Buren and Conway Counties have burn bans in effect.

Arkansas Forestry Commission lists 52 counties as having moderate wildfire danger including Cleburne, Conway, Faulkner, Jackson, Independence, Izard, Lawrence, Lonoke, Perry, Prairie, Pulaski, Sharp, Stone, Van Buren, White and Woodruff.

14 counties in the central western part of the state remain under low wildfire danger.
