Southside Student Formally Charged

Dylan Densmore

The student arrested last week for taking a shotgun on Southside High premises has officially been charged.

On Tuesday, Judge Tim Weaver found probable cause to charge 18-year old Dylan Wayne Densmore, of Batesville, with possession of a firearm on school property, a Class D felony.

Last Thursday, according to a probable cause affidavit, the Southside School District received an anonymous tip that Densmore had a firearm inside his truck on school grounds.

School Resource Officer Randy Lamons searched the truck and reportedly retrieved a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun, along several types of ammunition.

Officers arrested Densmore and took him to the Independence County Jail. He is currently out on bond awaiting arraignment.
