Riverview Superintendent Resigns

After numerous recent controversies, Riverview School District Superintendent David Rutledge submitted his resignation last night effective immediately.

The Riverview School Board voted unanimously to approve the resolution of separation which was followed by applause from the crowd in attendance.

Rutledge’s resignation comes just two days after a public hearing for Riverview teacher Jessica Johnson, who had petitioned the board for a name-clearing hearing after being placed on administrative leave in April following accusations from Rutledge during the school year.

Assistant Superintendent Judy Ballard will serve as interim superintendent.
