Pope County Casino License Application

On Monday, Gulfside Casino Partnership, headquartered in Gulfport, Mississippi, with endorsements from former local government officials, applied for a casino license up for grabs in Pope County. The proposal lacks the backing of current local leaders and the Racing Commission regulations say letters of support can only come from current officeholders.

The county judge there says at least three more bids should be filed before the application window closes by month’s end.

Gulfside’s is the second application received since the submission window opened May 1st for two brand-new casino licenses, one each in Pope and Jefferson counties.

The Quapaw Nation has also applied for a Casino Resort in Pine Bluff.
