Plant Board Recommendations Approved

The Arkansas Agriculture Department’s Plant Board met Wednesday and took action on several topics after hearing reports and recommendations from different committees.

Among the actions: approving a proposal from the Boll Weevil Committee for a $1per acre refund to all Arkansas cotton farmers from the Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation; Approval of the Bureau of Standards Committee recommended seasonal change to the required flash point of above 119 for diesel fuel sold for commercial use; Approval of a proposal from the Seed Committee to lower the acceptable germination rate for certain varieties of Arkansas Certified soybean seed from 80 to 70 percent; A draft rule change for Arkansas Pest Control Law; and Approval of a proposal from the Nursery and Plants Committee to initiate quarantine restrictions for the Guava Root Knot Nematode.     MORE
