Opioid Abuse Crisis Forum

Hendrix College

The Opioid Abuse Crisis Forum will take place Tuesday, November 13 from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall B of the Mills Center for Social Sciences at Hendrix College. Facilitated by Dr. Andres Caro of the Department of Chemistry and co-sponsored by Project Pericles, ESTEEM, the Psychology Club, the Neuroscience Club, and the Pre-Law Society, the forum will feature three panelists (Susan Weinstein, Michael Mancino, and Colin Jorgensen) sharing their experiences and offering their perspectives on the opioid abuse crisis, which is killing Americans at unprecedented rates and plaguing families and communities, particularly in Arkansas.

Susan Weinstein, D.V.M, retired in April 2018 from being the state’s public health veterinarian at the Arkansas Department of Health. More importantly for this setting, she is a mother of three adult children: two sons, and a daughter in heaven. She and her family struggled with having an addicted daughter for a number of years, until her daughter’s accidental overdose on Aug. 8, 2018.  MORE
