Not Guilty Pleas In Fragstein Case

Smith - Mackrel

Formal charges of capital murder, kidnapping, aggravated robbery and theft of property have been filed against two teens suspected in the kidnapping and murder of 71-year-old Elvia Fragstein.

Just hours after the Faulkner County Prosecutors Office announced the formal charges, 16-year old Robert Lee Smith Jr. and 18-year old Tacori Mackrel, both of Pine Bluff, pled not guilty.

The Wooster woman’s body was found in Jefferson County on July 11th, days after she was reported missing from Faulkner County.

Officials believe Fragstein was forcefully taken from the Conway Commons Shopping Center on July 7th.

Authorities say she died of blunt force trauma to the head and cervical spine as well as strangulation.

The two teens, both being tried as adults and separately, have bond hearings set for October.
