New State Flu Death Record

Add an additional 28 flu-linked deaths to the state total. It now stands at 122 making this flu season is the deadliest in nearly two decades.

Arkansas Department of Health officials say that total is likely to rise over the next several weeks since typically two-thirds of the deaths from a flu season are reported after the peak of transmission, a point that hasn’t yet arrived.

Among the deaths this flu season: two children between ages 5 and 18; two people ages 25-44; 16 people between the ages of 45 and 64; and 102 people over the age of 65. The deadliest flu season since 2000 had been the 2014-15 season, when 110 people died.    MORE
