Murder Suspect Unfit

A Faulkner County capital murder suspect has been ruled unfit to proceed with trial.

On Monday, Circuit Court Judge Charles Clawson Jr. made that ruling in the case of 49-year old Douglas Honley Bivens, of Guy. Bivens faces charges of capital murder, attempted capital murder and two counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member following a January 2017 incident.

Faulkner County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shots fired call just outside of the Guy city limits and found Bivens’ mother, 71-year-old Janette Bivens, dead in the yard and his father suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.

Clawson ordered Bivens to appear before him again in 10 months.
