Mayflower Teacher Pleads Guilty
August 30, 2019
CrainMedia

A former Mayflower art teacher has admitted to having inappropriate relations with one of her students last year.
33-year-old Jessica Kaplan, of North Little Rock, pled guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual assault.
Kaplan was arrested in May of 2018. She previously pleaded not guilty to the allegations but changed her plea this week.
According to Faulkner County Circuit Court documents, Kaplan admitted that she had two separate sexual encounters with the 17-year-old student.
Arkansas Code states that if “an employee in the victim’s school or school district” engages in sexual activity with a minor, any such actions constitute sexual assault in the first degree.
She faces up to 30 years in prison with a fine up to $15,000.
Kaplan’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 18th.
