Lady Bisons Stay #1 In Central Region

SEARCY – The Harding softball team stayed at No. 2 in this week’s National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Poll in a release on Wednesday.

The Lady Bisons are 46-6 on the season which is the most wins in program history and is 36-4 in GAC action.

Harding has been ranked 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 11th, 16th, 17th, 19th, 23rd and 18th in the poll this season. The Lady Bisons are coming off a 4-2 week. Harding split a doubleheader with Arkansas Tech and then went 3-1 at Arkansas-Monticello.

Southern Arkansas is the other GAC team ranked in the top-25. The Lady Muleriders stayed at No. 14 in this week’s poll.

Harding will play its final regular season GAC series this weekend when it hosts Northwestern Oklahoma in a four-game series starting Friday at 2 p.m. The two teams will then wrap up their series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.

Meanwhile, Harding stayed at No. 1 in the second of three NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings.

Through last weekend’s games, Harding was 45-5 against in-region opponents.

The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will each host three other teams on May 11-13 in a double elimination format. The winner of each tournament will then advance to the super regional, a three-game series hosted by the higher seed on May 18-19. The winner of the super regionals will advance to the Women’s College World Series held May 25-29 in Salem, Virginia.

Monday’s results were not included in this week’s rankings.
