The Conway Police Department was made aware of a post on Snapchat Monday night of a Conway Jr. High student threatening to carry a shotgun to school to shoot a particular student “and Mexicans.”

Officers immediately started working to track down the student responsible for the threat. The 15-year old student has been identified and arrested.

While this case is still under investigation, detectives do not believe any further threat remains.

Meanwhile On Monday, the Izard County Sheriff’s Department received information that a threat had been made to the Melbourne School District.

After a thorough investigation and numerous interviews by the Izard County Sheriff’s Department and the school administrators, it was determined that the alleged threat was not credible. No student or students were ever endangered.

Authorities say at this point, there is no reason to believe a threat exists going forward.
