Juvenile Detention Officer Trial

A jury trial for two former juvenile detention center officers accused of conspiring to abuse jailed teenagers at the White River Juvenile Detention Center in Batesville will proceed as scheduled on Tuesday December 11th.

The trial stems from a May 2017 indictment charging 27-year old Will Ray and 48-year old Thomas Farris with conspiring between 2012 and 2014 to injure, oppress, threaten and intimidate at least four boys held at the facility in violation of the boys’ constitutional rights.

A third officer, 43-year old Jason Benton pled guilty to the charges in April and has yet to be sentenced.

U.S. District Judge Billy Roy Wilson has not yet ruled on whether he will grant or deny a request to move the trial from Little Rock to Batesville.
