Guthrie To Address Mental Health Issues In Next Lecture Event

JONESBORO – Jillian Guthrie, a professional social worker who specializes in mental health and addiction issues, will make the next presentation in the 2017-18 Lecture-Concert Series at Arkansas State University.

She will speak Thursday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. in Room 1041 of the Humanities and Social Sciences Building (GPS: 2401 Aggie Road).  Her presentation is supported in part by the A-State Counseling Center.

Guthrie has worked on a wide range of cases, from child welfare and delinquency to homeless and chronically mentally ill, as a supervisor and professor.

At the age of 34, she found herself in a struggle to survive physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  In the grips of depression and addictive behavior as a mental health professional, Guthrie struggled with shame and self-doubt due to the stigma of needing outside assistance to restore her own health.   MORE
