Governmental Meetings

Batesville, Conway and Searcy City Councils, Conway and Greenbrier School Boards all meet in regular session today.

The Batesville City Council agenda sees reports from the Engineer, Police and Fire Departments.

The docket also sees consideration of two ordinances pertaining to the parameters for the retirement benefits for the Mayor and City Clerk.

This afternoon’s meeting begins at 5:30 in the Batesville Municipal Building, 500 East Main Street.

Conway City Council agenda sees a public hearing to get input from Conway residents regarding how funds provided through the 2019 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant should be spent.

According to the public notice, the City of Conway application is for $25,425 to be shared equally with Faulkner County. The Conway Police Department and Faulkner County Sheriff’s Department propose to use the funding for purchase of equipment.

The docket also sees consideration of the nomination of Jack Bell to the Health Facilities Board for a five year term and several ordinances and resolutions. Among them: accepting the proposals for a consultant to prepare a city-wide historic preservation plan for the Planning & Development Department; accepting the grant funding from ADEM for the Tyler Street Bridge over Tucker Creek Project for the Transportation Department; approving the purchase of right of way and appropriating funds for the Tyler Street Improvement Project for the Transportation Department; appropriating grant funds from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for the parking lot improvements on Brewer Lake; waiving the bid process for the purchase and installation of three a/c units for the Don Owens Sports Center for the Parks & Recreation Department; and consideration to enter into the School Resource Officer agreement with Conway School District for the school year 2019-2020.
