Fragstein Case Formal Charges Delayed

Tacori Mackrell

Prosecutors asked Faulkner County Circuit Court Judge Troy Braswell Jr. for more time to review evidence before deciding to file formal charges against the two teens accused of abducting and killing of 71-year-old Elvia Fragstein, of Wooster.

18-year-old Tacori Mackrell, and 16-year-old Robert Smith Jr., both of Pine Bluff, are being charged as adults with kidnapping, theft of property, capital murder and robbery.

The incident started as a missing persons case July 7, 2018, when Fragstein was last seen at a shopping center in Conway. It became a murder investigation when Fragstein’s body was found July 11th in Jefferson County.

The 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s office is still looking into evidence collected by the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, and is also awaiting evidence from the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

Judge Braswell granted the prosecution’s request agreeing to push the suspects hearing back to September 4th, allowing prosecutors more time to review their options.
