Former Judge Pleds Guilty And Sentenced

A former county judge for Izard County pled guilty to charges that include forgery and theft after authorities discovered county property on his farm.

Court records show 58-year old David Charles Sherrell pled guilty to criminal use of property, theft of property and two counts of forgery and was sentenced to six years in prison. He also must pay $35,000 in restitution to Izard County.

Sherrell served as county judge from January 2011 to December 2016.

Also charged are Matthew Oliver Orf with criminal use of property or laundering criminal proceeds and Paul Stacey Shuttleworth for second-degree forgery.
