Fire Chief Let Go

The Greenbrier fire chief has been terminated from his position, a decision made unanimously by the city council.

Mayor Sammy Joe Hartwick said the alderman were disappointed with Cody Fulmer’s performance.

Log Cabin Democrat reports Fulmer said he is in shock that he no longer serves as fire chief.

In his six-year tenure as fire chief, Fulmer worked to update the department’s outdated equipment and keep his team trained in an effort to serve the city’s escalating calls for service.

As the city’s full-time fire chief, Fulmer’s responsibilities also included being the code enforcement officer and the director of planning and zoning.

Volunteer firefighter Tim Tyler will fill the position, with the council changing the position to part-time.
