Concert Band And Symphonic Winds In Concert, February 22nd

JONESBORO – The Department of Music at Arkansas State University will present a concert by the Concert Band and Symphonic Winds on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Center’s Riceland Hall.  This program is free to the public.

Concert Band is conducted by Dr. Timothy Oliver and the graduate associate conductor of bands, Matthew Simpson.  They will perform “Dedicatory Overture” by Clifton Williams, “Joy” by Frank Ticheli, “Short Stories” by Leonard Mark Lewis, and “Emblem of Unity” by J.J. Richards.

The Symphonic Winds, conducted by Dr. Sarah Labovitz, will perform “Hands Across the Sea” by John Phillip Sousa, “Polly Oliver” by Thomas Root, “Give Us This Day” by David Maslanka and “Slava! ” by Leonard Bernstein.

Give Us This Day” is performed in memory of the composer, David Maslanka, who died in 2017 and was a composer-in-residence at A-State in 2013.
