Child Pornographer Sentenced

Mitchell Johnson

On Thursday, a White County man was sentenced to more than 21 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to production of child pornography.

Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick C. Harris says 44-year old Mitchell Johnson, of Searcy, also must register as a sex offender.

Johnson was indicted in March of 2016 on one count of production of child pornography, two counts of distribution of child pornography, one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to a news release, an undercover Faulkner County Sheriff’s Investigator began looking into Johnson in October 2015. The investigator answered an ad on Craigslist, seeking “individuals who were into family fun, especially dad/son, uncle/nephew.”

Johnson and the undercover investigator began chatting on a messenger app and Johnson sent several images of child porn to the investigator.

Johnson pled guilty last November to one count of production of child pornography and the other counts were dismissed.
