Cattail Duck Decoy Workshop

American Indians did not domesticate any animals for their food supply, so hunting, trapping, and fishing were very important life skills.  Waterfowl were an major protein source for the ancient people of this area and prehistoric duck hunters spent just as much time as modern ones perfecting their art. Duck decoys made of cattail leaves have been found at various archeological sites. Come to Parkin Archeological State Park on Saturday, October 21st from 1 to 4pm and learn how to make your own decoy at this unique workshop. Cost is $15 for materials. Participant minimum is 5 and maximum is 15. Ages 12 and above please. Preregistration is required.
