Burn Ban In Effect

wld

Continued dry weather across the state means several Arkansas counties have issued burn bans.

Among them, Cleburne, Conway, Faulkner, Independence, Perry, Pulaski, Sharp, Stone, Van Buren and White Counties.

Independence County joined the burn ban list as of 9:00 Monday morning October 2nd. Faulkner was the first to issue one on Sunday September 24th.

The southwest quarter of the state is listed as under a high wildfire risk.  The rest of the state’s counties are listed as having a moderate wildfire danger.

Any open burning is discouraged during high wildfire danger. Windy conditions, low humidity and dry fuels contribute to high wildfire danger. Fires escape control easily and containment is difficult endangering human safety and property.
