Bald Knob Water & Sewer Embezzlement

On Wednesday, the White County Sheriff’s Office arrested 68-year old Linda C. Jinks, a former clerk at the Bald Knob Water and Sewer Department.

Jinks is charged with theft of property, a class B felony.

The Daily Citizen reports the 17th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for her arrest on Monday, following an investigation by the Arkansas State Police into the embezzlement of nearly $148,000 between 2015 and 2108.

Arkansas State Police Special Agent David Moss wrote in an affidavit that “on March 28, 2019, I met with Legislative Audit Auditor Jimmy Locke to discuss this investigation. Locke stated suspect Linda Jinks was the water clerk for the Bald Knob Water and Sewer Department from 2008 until July 26, 2018, when she was terminated from her position.”

According to the affidavit, Jinks collected money along with other employees, but was solely responsible for depositing the collected money. Based on an audit conducted by a private accounting firm, $126,856.25 was discovered to be missing between 2016 and 2018, with an additional $20,861.56 unaccounted for during 2015.

Moss also wrote “Locke stated after Jinks was fired no more money was unaccounted for.”

Jinks is due in White County Circuit Court on July 2nd.
