Ascent To Close State Centers

One of the state’s largest providers of therapeutic day care for children with special developmental or medical needs announced Tuesday that it is closing all of its centers across the state.

Arkansas Department of Human Services says the closure will displace nearly 1,700 children. The locations provide Medicaid-funded services through the Early Intervention Day Treatment program and the Outpatient Behavioral Health program.

In a letter to the state, Ascent Children’s Health Services Chief Executive Officer Debby Willis said the company’s locations in Benton, Blytheville and Batesville will cease operations on November 1st and the sites in Jonesboro, Mountain Home, Trumann and Paragould will close November 30th.
