Area Road Construction

Construction to widen Interstate 630 requires overnight lane closures in Little Rock, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.

Weather permitting, crews will reduce I-630 traffic to one open lane in each direction during overnight hours between Baptist Hospital Drive (Exit 7) and University Avenue (Exit 5). Eastbound and westbound center and inside lanes will be closed during the following hours to conduct the work. Exit ramps may be impacted during this period at 15-minute intervals to tie into temporary ramps at Rodney Parham Road and University Avenue.

  • Sunday, September 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

  • Friday, September 28, 8:00 p.m. to Saturday, September 29, 11:59 p.m.

In addition, a traffic shift will move traffic from the outside lanes to the inside lanes beginning Thursday night, September 27 and take three to four nights to complete.

Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels. During daytime travel peak hours, all six lanes on I-630 will be open to traffic. Neighborhoods adjacent to the interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zones.

The widening is estimated to be complete in early 2020. More information on this $87.4 million project is available at
