The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved bids for road improvements in Lonoke and White Counties.

Arkansas Department of Transportation officials say the purpose of the nearly $21 million project in White County is to rehabilitate the pavement on the main lanes and shoulders on U.S. Highway 67 between the Lonoke County Line and Judsonia.

Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. of Columbia, Missouri, was awarded the contract at $20,889,159.20.

The purpose of the over $24 million project in Lonoke County is to widen three miles of State Highway 321 to five lanes with a portion of four-lane divided roadway in Cabot.

Rogers Group, Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee, was awarded the contract at $24,171,571.91.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in early 2021.
