Mesa Named Director Of Workforce And Community Development

BEEBE, Ark. – Leonard Mesa of Cabot, formerly of San Antonio, has been named Director of Workforce and Community Development at Arkansas State University-Beebe.

With over 18 years in the food manufacturing industry, Mesa’s experience includes production and quality management positions in the seasoning, rice, breading and meat further processing sectors.

Dr. Kerry Mix, ASU-Beebe Provost, stated “We welcome Leonard Mesa to our campuses and communities. Mesa will be responsible for coordinating non-credit workforce training for local businesses and manufacturing, as well as developing community education classes.”

Mesa is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science.  In 2009, Mesa received a Master of Business Administration from Arkansas State University, graduating with honors distinction.

Mesa was a member of the 2017 Searcy Leadership Institute and has been active in Boxes of Hope and ‘The Kitchen’ Drive-Through Meals in Cabot. He is a member of the Institute of Food Technologists, American Society for Quality, and Beta Gamma Sigma.

“I have always had a desire and passion to help others realize their dreams to achieve their personal and professional goals,” said Mesa. “Working at ASUB will provide the resources I need to help the people in the communities we serve to grow and unlock their potential.”

Mesa enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He likes to participate in outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and exercise.
