Juvenile Detention Center Officers Sentenced

Two former employees of the White River Regional Juvenile Detention Center have been sentenced to federal prison for allegedly assaulting teenage inmates.

Authorities say former Lieutenant Supervisor 41-year old Dennis Fuller was given a three-year sentence, while former jailer 44-year old Jason Benton was sentenced to 30 months.

Both also received two years of supervised release after they serve their sentences.

45-year old Peggy Kendrick, the Batesville facility’s former Captain, had her sentencing hearing delayed to allow a snowed-in woman who was once a detainee at the facility to fly in from Montana to make a victim-impact statement.

The trio pled guilty in 2017 to various counts of conspiring to assault juvenile inmates and lying about the assaults on reports at the White River facility.
